A practical list based on Captain Jeff’s current recommendations for boat and possible wade fishing.

Required or strongly recommended

  • Any Texas fishing license required for your age and residency
  • Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses—preferably polarized
  • Straps for glasses so they do not blow off during the boat ride
  • Old tennis shoes, reef shoes or suitable wading footwear
  • Lightweight long pants or chest waders when appropriate
  • Weather-appropriate clothing and a light jacket during cooler seasons
  • Food, snacks and any drinks other than the water Jeff supplies
  • Any personal medication your group may need
  • A cooler in your vehicle for transporting cleaned fish

Useful extras

  • Zip-top plastic bag for a wallet, phone and other personal items
  • Coffee in a container with a secure lid
  • Change of clothing for the ride home
  • Neck gaiter or lightweight sun shirt
  • Reef boots and stingray guards for added wading protection
  • A personal life jacket if you have one you prefer; required flotation devices are carried aboard
Jeff provides rods and reels. He can also help guests with casting or cast for someone when needed.
